HEADLINE: CANDY HERE NOT TAINTED

Officials of the Morinaga Co. and wholesalers on Okinawa said no boxes of cyanide-tainted Morinaga products have shown up in Okinawa.

A total of 13 boxes of Morinaga chocolate and other candy laced with powdered sodium cyanide have been found at stores in Osaka and Kyoto, and in Hyogo and Aichi Prefectures, all in central mainland Japan.

Morinaga officials and officials at Dainaha Department Store, the local branch of the largest department store chain in Japan, said they are checking each shipment received from the mainland.

None of the company's products have been taken off the shelves on Okinawa, they said.
